In Shoe Correction

Everyone’s feet are different! This is a simple, yet crucial piece of the biomechanical puzzle that is so often forgotten in the running industry. We see it all too often that the footwear fitting process is oversimplified, normally for quick results by undertrained staff in many running stores.

At Alexandra Sports we like to take the time and care to recognise that people can’t simply be pigeon-holed into one of 3 or 4 support categories. All too often you may read online and in running magazines that every runner falls into one of these footwear categories: neutral, mild, moderate or motion control; the truth is that every single runner is completely unique and so are running shoes within the so-called “support categories”.

As a result, it is quite often impossible to find the “perfect” shoe for every runner, as often the perfect shoe for a certain runner’s feet simply doesn’t exist. This is where insoles and additions come in to play. We make use of not only off-the-shelf insoles, but also custom moulded insoles, medical grade silicone gel wedges and high density EVA foam wedges to fine tune your footwear where it’s deemed necessary. We even work closely with one of the UK’s leading NHS approved footwear modification factories, for more extreme jobs, where the shoes themselves need to be modified based on a Podiatrist’s or Orthotist’s prescription.

So as with many runners, if you have one leg shorter than the other, or one foot pronating harder or more than the other, if you have injury symptoms that are one sided or blisters on one foot and not the other; this is where we can really make a difference over simply choosing the correct running shoe for you; so why not visit us and see if we can help you?
